Isaiah Carter

COMPOSER, ARRANGER, MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST, PRODUCER

28-year-old Isaiah Carter is a multi-faceted musician, having been proficient in various styles on the drum set, melodic and auxiliary percussion, as well as, piano, organ, and keyboard before becoming enamored with vocal music.

        He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, it was clear from a young age that music was in Isaiah’s blood. He was enrolled in drum lessons at the age of 3, and was given his first drum set at the age of 6. He continued playing as he grew older, as he entered school and continued in his development, joining the band program and jazz band programs as soon as he was able. He began studying jazz in 2009, doing the Kansas City Youth Jazz program in 2009 and rising to the top band by his sophomore year in high school. In 2012, Isaiah was selected to be a member of the inaugural class of the GRAMMY Museum’s Music Revolution Project, hosted at the Kauffman Center, in Kansas City, MO. In 2013, Isaiah was one of 75 students selected nationwide to participate in the GRAMMY Foundation’s signature music industry camp for high school students, hosted at the University Of Southern California Thornton School Of Music,, and was invited to a camp by the same program at the McNally Smith College Of Music in St. Paul, MN in 2014.

        Isaiah has honed both his composition and arranging skills, going on to become an arranger and vocal percussionist for Berklee College of Music’s internationally-acclaimed collegiate a cappella group, Pitch Slapped before graduating in 2019 with a degree in Film Scoring. Since then, he has appeared in articles by the A Cappella Education Association, podcasts by a cappella talk show “head/voice”, and won multiple CARA Awards, most recently for his arrangement of “Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” for the TikTok a cappella sensation, EARCANDY. He has also begun branching into the silver screen, appearing  in the feature films Daddy’s Home 2  alongside Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell and the 2022 Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and provided additional arranging and orchestration for Paramount Pictures’ Blue’s Clues & You: Blue’s Big City Adventure.

Isaiah currently works as a composer and arranger for multiple upcoming TV and film projects, most recently having been the Assistant Composer on the Netflix Kids’ Series, Dee and Friends in Oz.
